Wedding Etiquette

It’s important to know who is expected to pay for each item of your wedding. You can use the following guide to help you with this process:

Your Wedding Day

It’s important to do your wedding planning early. The following tips will make your wedding everything you’ve dreamed of.

6 – 12 months before your wedding

  1. Choose a date and determine your budget
  2. Decide on the style for your wedding. ( formal vs. informal, traditional vs. nontraditional
  3. Invite clergy to officiate
  4. Reserve locations for the ceremony and reception.
  5. Select a photographer and florist
  6. Look into caterers, musicians, travel agents, wedding cake, tuxedo rentals, and transportation for bridal party.
  7. Determine guest list.
  8. Select bridal party, bridesmaids’ dresses, and bridal dress

4 months before your wedding

  1. Order all other wedding attire.
  2. Finalize guest list.
  3. Order invitations and announcements and start addressing envelopes.
  4. Select items for your bridal registry
  5. Make final arrangements for contract services.
  6. Pay deposits and sign contracts.
  7. Order cake and finalize menu.

4 – 6 weeks before wedding

  1. Meet with all service vendors to finalize details.
  2. Schedule the wedding rehearsal and dinner.
  3. Finalize details for the ceremony with clergyman.
  4. Schedule your formal portrait and complete details for your honeymoon.
  5. Send out your invitations.
  6. Arrange final fittings for yourself and bridesmaids.
  7. Complete all official documents such as marriage license.
  8. Prepare wedding announcements for local newspaper.

2 weeks before your wedding

  1. Coordinate plan for receiving gifts.
  2. Purchase gifts for bridal party.
  3. Give caterer final count and plan seating arrangements for reception.

1 week before your wedding

  1. Review responsibilities of the bridal party.
  2. Pick up wedding rings and make sure they fit,
  3. Pick up wedding dress and any final accessories.
  4. Pack for your honeymoon.
